Fitness Specialist 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·         Create safe and effective individualized exercise programs for personal training or coaching sessions

·         Provide general supervision to members

·         Provide a safe and effective exercise environment

·         Assist members with attaining their personal training goals

·         Interact with members and establish relationships

·         Conduct new member fitness assessments

·         Ability to work with a varying clientele

·         Maintain a clean fitness facility (equipment and surrounding area)

We are looking for trainers with a positive attitude, willing to have fun in a professional setting, strong communication skills, and ready to be welcomed asset to our team!

Required skills:

·         Bachelor's degree in health/fitness or related field

·         ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NASM, or NSCA certification

·         Current CPR/AED certification

·         Group exercise instructor a plus!

 

This position is part-time (20-30 hours per week).

 

Pool Coordinator

Sentara Center for Health and Fitness is looking for an eager and dependable part-time pool coordinator for our busy aquatics center. Candidates must be available to work days, evenings, and weekends (approximately 20-25 hours per week). Attendance at work is an essential function of the position. Additional duties include but are not limited to:

·         Ensure the safety of persons using the swimming pool

·         Ensure patrons follow the rules of the aquatic area

·         Enforce pool and aquatic center rules

·         Clean areas for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary and safe condition

  • Monitor three large pool’s water chemistry through testing of water samples and adjust chemistry as needed to maintain standards.

·         Complete daily cleaning schedule and log accordingly

  • Assist in maintenance and routine pump room duties.
  • Monitor and maintains pool filtration system.
  •  Perform pump room duties, including but not limited to, backwashing and handling installation of chemicals as necessary.
  • Handles chemicals such as chlorine, muriatic acid, etc.

·         Needs to be motivated, dependable, respectful, and responsible

·         Ability to work flexible hours and weekends

·         Ability to respond to emergencies in a timely manner

·         Must be 18 years old or older

 

Required: - CPR/AED/First Aid and Certified Pool Operator certifications

-       One year previous pool experience

 

Our aquatics facility is an indoor area with a 25 meter lap pool, an activity pool and a whirlpool.
